Business Description
Founded in 1910 as Standard Mailing Machines Corporation, the then Everett, Massachusetts - based company started manufacturing and marketing office-type business equipment, with the Standard Stamp Affixer as its first product. In 1930, the firm entered the duplicating field with the Gelatin Rotary Duplicator. One year later, inventor and company founder Frederick W. Storck revolutionized the field by introducing the spirit process for short-run duplicating. Diversification In 1972, a new direction came from L. Guy Reny. Reny accepted the presidency at Standard and quickly went to work streamlining, increasing productivity, and laying the groundwork for diversification. Reny's first major introduction was the Standard Bourg Collator, which helped to establish Standard as the leading distributor of friction collators for use by print shops in the United States and Canada. Thus began what is now Standard Finishing Systems, a division dedicated to serving small-to-mid-size print shops.
